"Coolness isn't a fast car any more. It isn't a crowded cocktail bar. It certainly isn't a Caribbean beach, rubber-necking at celebrities. It is knowing when to slow down, take time out, commune with nature, savour pleasures too precious to be rushed. "
(Daily Telegraph - about Coolcanals)
There are over 2,000 miles of canals and rivers meandering every contour of England, Wales and Scotland. An unhurried parallel world, where you can completely switch off, ditch the daily grind and discover the slowest treasures of beautiful Britain.
Go for a walk, a bike ride with the kids, a day out in the open air or have fun simply messing about in boats.
Or why not go sightseeing, wobble away in a kayak for the first time, let your hair down at a waterside festival, take the family on a narrowboat holiday they'll never forget, find a cosy waterside pub for a lazy day out just 'gongoozling'... there's plenty to be surprised by along these historic water-roads.
Enjoy the great waterways outdoors...
Who are we?
We're totally independent, with a passion for the waterways that keeps us travelling the canals - by towpath and by boat - from the sands of Cornwall to the Highlands of Scotland.
We publish guidebooks and our 'one-stop' waterways leisure guide with user-friendly directory will help you plan your own holidays, days out and activities along the canals... Everything from walking to wildlife watching, pubs to paddling away in a kayak.
We live on a narrowboat too, travelling the waterways with our eco-office on board - probably the smallest publishing house in the world!
